Austrian Automotive sector full year 2014 report was negative for the third year in a row. Volkswagen was again market leader while losing over 5 percent and the Golf was best-selling model.

In December 2014 according to data released by Automotive.at, the agency of the local Association of Car Manufacturerstotal new Cars Passengers sold in Austria have been 17.391, down 16.5% compared with the correspondent month last year.

The last was the worse Y.o.Y. performance in the already negative year with 10 months in red out of 12. Consequently the Full Year 2014 figures was negative, with volume at 303.232, down 5.0% from 2013, the third decline in a row.

In December, all Top brands reported losses, but Mercedes (8th with 755 units, +41.7%) and Fiat (10th with 654 sales, +16.6%),

The market leader, Volkswagen, sold 3.888 units, down 15.7% with share at 22.4%. Full Year sales had been 54.775, down 5.2%.

Fourth in the full year ranking, Hyundai was second in December with 1.054 units (-26.3%) outpacing Ford (1.034 sales, -18.2%), Skoda (4th with 934 sales, -26.4%) and BMW (5th with 901, -32.7%).

Looking on the lower side of the ranking, Smart, Jeep and Tesla are the emerging players.

As far as the Car Groups performance and ranking the leader was Volkswagen Group with 37.1% of market share, ahead of Renault-Nissan with 9.8% and Hyundai with 9.7%.

As far as Best-selling models performance and ranking, Volkswagen Golf dominated the competition with 1.288 sales (+3.5) followed by the Hyundai i20 with 712 and Volkswagen Sharan with 467.

Among the fastest growing models this month there were Smart Fortwo (16th with 197 units, +151.4%), Audi A4 (10th with 248, +42.5%) and Opel Mokka (13th with 224, +71.0%),
