Post-Covid in 2021 sales grew back slightly reaching 47,156 (+4.6%). While in 2022 sales dropped 10.7% to 42,087.

The car market in 2023 will have to confront some issues within automotive industry that put negative pressure on sales: the disruption in the global supply chain caused by a lack of raw materials, in particular for the production of microchips and Governments push towards Evs, an expensive alternative for low income consumers.

Medium-Term Market Trend

The Slovenian auto market has had many ups and downs in recent years. Demand for passenger cars fluctuated between 48k and 60k from 2010 to 2015. The market then started to gain momentum breaking the 60k resistance in 2016, finishing the year at 63,563. The uptrend continued for a few years reaching the current all-time high of 81,473 sales in 2018. Momentum then slowed down in 2019 that closed at 81,420 sales.

The arrival of the pandemic in 2020 forced many European countries to implement the lockdown, blocking entire economies. The Slovenian car market dropped 26.8% because of this, closing the year at 59,621.

Post-pandemic demand for passenger cars began a slow recovery in 2021 (+5.5%), that came to a halt in the following year. In fact, 2022 totaled 46,111 sales, a 14.2% loss from 2021.  A combination of factors are behind the current industry struggle: the disruption in the global supply chain caused by a lack of raw materials, in particular for the production of microchips, and the Governments push towards Evs.

Syria’s vehicle market in H1 2023 reports 320 sales, growing 21.7% from the previous year. Hyundai collapses 40.7% while maintaining first position.

Market Trend and Outlook

The Syrian vehicle market in H1 2023 reports 320 sales, growing 21.7% following 4 consecutive losing years.

The only brands to be sold in the country at the moment are Hyundai with 48.8% market share despite losing 40.7% in sales from 2021 and Kia with 41.9% market share.

Medium-Term Market Trend

Not long ago Syria was the biggest car market in the Levant region. Only 10 years ago, with a volume of 87,500 annual sales, the Syrian new market represented a relevant reality within the region. Unfortunately, in this decade the country was destroyed by the civil war and terrorism and the entire economic structure collapsed, including the automotive industry.

Between 2010 and 2013 the market has lost more than half its sales a single year, with 2014 volumes at 23,955 units. The fall continued and the negative peak was hit in 2017 when the market lost 90% from 2010 at 7,978 units. In 2018 sales marginally recovered at near 10,000 units, but the data on 2019 was down again. In fact, total sales in 2019 were 8,347, down 15.8%.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, social and political instabilities in the country sales significantly decreased in  2020. In fact, sales have been 2,941, reporting a fall of 64.8% compared to 2019.

The downfall continued in 2021 with new light vehicle sales falling another 33.4% to 1,958.

The Pros And Cons Of Buying An Electric Car https://www.focus2move.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-buying-an-electric-car/ Tue, 16 May 2023 06:00:52 +0000 https://www.focus2move.com/?p=71938 With sleeker and additional models to pick from, electric cars have become popular. Some people remain unwilling to transition from traditional gas-powered vehicles when electric cars were first introduced. However, recent statistics show that the number of people buying and using electric cars is already catching up.

Traditional vehicles have a lot of environmental disadvantages, which electric car resolves. It’s the primary reason why many countries are looking into banning diesel and petrol cars in the future. However, many still believe that conventional cars are still the most practical vehicles to own. If you’re caught in deciding what type of car you should buy, here are the pros and cons of buying an electric car to consider before purchasing:

Reasons Not To Buy An Electric Car

Below are some of the disadvantages of buying an electric car.

  • It’s Expensive

One of the primary reasons people are still hesitant about buying an electric car is that it’s more expensive compared to the price of a conventional vehicle.

But, why? Here’s a quick insight into why they are expensive:

  • Electric cars use lithium-ion rechargeable batteries that cost almost one-third of the whole vehicle’s total cost.
  • New market with limited options available is what makes electric cars’ prices rather expensive.
  • The electric cars’ market demand keeps on increasing, while the supply is still limited.
  • Limited Range

Range anxiety is the concern that you won’t be able to travel to your destination without charging your car or that you won’t be able to charge your car when you get there. It’s another limiting factor that will deter many people from driving a pure electric vehicle.

Even though automakers are constantly developing new ways to make electric cars go longer, they still have a lower range than traditional vehicles. If you’re planning a long-distance journey, this can be an issue. Electric cars may be sufficient for commuting, but longer trips may necessitate preparation to determine where the driver can recharge, which is also a problem since there are limited charging stations for electric cars.

  • Charging Duration

If you often get bored when your phones’ batteries get emptied, imagine how long you’ll have to wait to charge a bigger battery than your phone. People are used to waiting two to three minutes filling up a car’s gas tank; most electric vehicles, on the other hand, can take a few hours before they get fully charged. As time is the most valuable thing for some, this electric car’s drawback is a big no.

  • Lack Of Charging Infrastructure

The most significant disadvantage of owning an electric vehicle is the need to charge it. Even if an electric vehicle may be charged at home, locating a charging station in remote locations or on a long-distance road trip might be difficult. Electric vehicle charging stations can be found in parking lots and on the sides of the road in some regions. But, this isn’t the case in most cities as there’s still a few charging stations available for electric cars. No one would want to be stuck in a particular place after your car stopped because of an empty battery.

Why Should You Buy An Electric Car?

There are many reasons why you should buy an electric car. Aside from its being environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, electric vehicles are low-maintenance as well. And, it’ll assure you that your government won’t ban them in the years to come.

  • Electric Cars Are Environment-Friendly

Carbon dioxide emission has been a primary concern ever since diesel, petrol, and other combustible liquids and materials became humanity’s primary source of energy. The creation of fully electric vehicles that have no emissions has given humanity hope that cleaner air is possible.

Unlike traditional cars that transform potential into kinetic energy by burning chemicals for them to run, electric vehicles work differently. They don’t burn chemicals for them to run as they release their stored energy electrochemically using their batteries. So, if you want to lessen your carbon footprint, you might want to consider switching from a conventional to an electric vehicle.

  • They’re Energy-Efficient

The amount of energy from a fuel source transformed into actual energy for driving a vehicle is referred to as energy efficiency. Electric cars are significantly more efficient than gasoline-powered cars. The batteries in electric vehicles transfer more than half of their total energy percentage into vehicle movement, whereas gas-powered vehicles only convert, more or less, by 20%.

Electric cars can be powered with renewable resources (i.e., solar energy, wind energy, and many more). In comparison, gasoline-powered cars use oil, which isn’t renewable.

  • Low-Maintenance

Since electric cars don’t have gas engines, they don’t need oil. Thus, you don’t need to frequently change oils to take care of their parts. Plus, since they don’t have many components that gas-powered cars have, it means minor wear and tear, so replacing components will be minimized.

  • Cost-Effective

Electricity is cheaper than petrol or gasoline. Recharging an electric car is more cost-effective in the long run compared to refueling diesel or petrol, in which prices are also fluctuating. In addition, other countries have implemented tax incentives for those houses that install solar panels. So, if you reside in one of those countries, everything will be in your favor.

  • Less Noise

Aside from air pollution, electric cars also run quietly. Because electric vehicles are too quiet, some manufacturers install sound generators into them, so other vehicles or pedestrians will be aware of their presence. Some might prefer a car with distinct noise, especially those who are into sports cars. However, the majority will still choose a smooth and silent one.

  • Better Acceleration

Electric cars provide a unique driving experience by eliminating most mechanical gizmos seen in gasoline and diesel vehicles. Without shifting a single gear, electric cars can go from zero to top-speed. Because electric cars don’t need to shift gears, all of the torque they can generate is available at zero rpm (revolutions per minute). As a result, electric vehicles can deliver maximum torque (the force that propels the car forward) right from the start, resulting in fast acceleration.

Should You Buy An Electric Car?

People can benefit a lot from using an electric car, but some disadvantages should be considered. If you’re the type of person who values nature a lot and charging time isn’t an issue for you, switching to an electric car is a good option. However, if you often make long trips and usually have no time to charge a vehicle, then an electric vehicle might not fit your needs yet.

Remember that buying something should always align with your budget and your needs, so choose depending on your preferences. When it comes time to get insurance, explore ROLLiN’ electric vehicle insurance to find a plan that meets your needs.
