World Best Selling Pick Up Ranking up to October 2023 reports the Ford F-Series as the undisputed leader (+15.0%), followed by a rising Chevrolet Silverado. GMC Sierra grows 21.2% into 5th spot.

The undisputed market leader remains the Ford F-Series. This vehicle is mainly sold in the US and Canada, that represent 98% of its total sales. Looking at cumulative sales up to October 2023 the Ford F-Series registered 734,418 sales this year (+15.0%).

In second place we have the Chevrolet Silverado -up 1 spot- which sold 512,674 units (+4.6%), followed by the Toyota Hillux -down 1 spot- with 496,235 sales (-5.0%).

In fourth place there is the Ram Pick-up with 434,730 sales (-5.8%), in front of the GMC Sierra in fifth place with 294,668 sales (+21.2%) and the Ford Ranger with 287,873 new registrations (+9.2%).

The Isuzu D-Max ranks in 7th reporting 225,289 sales (-4.1%), followed by the Toyota Tacoma  with 220,899 units sold (+3.3%).

In ninth place ranks the Toyota Tundra with 220,899 sales (+17.1%) and  closing the Top 10 the Fiat Strada reports 102,479 cumulative sales in 2022 (+22.6%).

The undisputed market leader remains the Ford F-Series. This vehicle is mainly sold in the US and Canada, that represent 98% of it’s total sales. In 2022, the Ford F-Series registered 786,328 sales (-8.8%).

In second place we have the Chevrolet Silverado -up 1 spot- which sold 591,596 units (+1.8%), followed by the Toyota Hillux with 564,051 sales (+2.6%).

In fourth place there is the Ram Pick-up -down 2 spots- with 545,423 sales (-15.4%), in front of the Ford Ranger in fifth place with 312,263 sales (-18.4%) and the GMC Sierra with 301,557 new registrations (-2.8%).

The Toyota Tacoma ranks in 7th reporting 254,589 sales (-8.0%), followed by the Isuzu D-Max  with 250,196 units sold (+8.5%).

In ninth place we have the Great Wall Wingle 5 with 133,654 sales (-1.6%) and  closing the Top 10 the Fiat Strada reports 119,468 cumulative sales in 2022 (+0.2%).

World Best Selling Pick Up 2021 final data was led once again by large American style models. The Fiat Strada impresses by entering the leaderboard and jumping up to 10th place, followed by the Isuzu D-Max.

The undiscussed market leader remains the Ford F-Series, which hit the milestone of 1 million sales in 2017. US and Canada represent 98% of total sales. In 2021, the Ford F-Series registered 862k units (14.6% market share).

In second place we have the Chevrolet Silverado selling 581k units (9.8% share), followed by the Ram Pick-up with 572k units sold (9.7% share).

In fourth place the king of the desert, the Toyota Hilux, with 550k sales (9.3% share). Differently from the previous three models, the Hilux sales are distributed over 140 different markets, dominating entire areas in Africa, South America, and the Middle East.

Following we have the Ford Ranger in fifth place with 368k sales (6.2% share) and the Toyota Tacoma with 262k units (4.4% share), followed by the GMC Sierra with 257k sales (4.3% share) and the Great Wingle 5 with 136k units (2.3% share) sold.

In ninth place we have the Isuzu D-Max -up 3 spots- with 123k units (2.1% share) followed by the Fiat Strada entering the leaderboard by jumping 4 spots with 119k units sold (2% share).

Following we have the Ford Ranger in fifth place with 325.410 sales and the GMC Sierra with 312.592 units, followed by the Toyota Tacoma with 267.287 sales and the Isuzu D-Max with 238.639 units sold.

In ninth place we have the Great Wall Wingle 5 -up 3 spots- with 129.209 units followed by the Toyota Tundra with 123.376 units sold.

In second place the Ram Pick–up gaining 17.4% from the previous year – selling 731.988 units, overtaking the Chevrolet Silverado which entered on a negative path, declining by 1.7% with sales at 642.641.

In fourth place the king of the desert, the Toyota Hilux, with 550.361 sales (-0.5%). Differently from the previous three models, the Hilux sales are distributed over 140 different markets, dominating entire areas in Africa, South America and Middle East.

In fifth place the Ford Ranger with 354.321 – surging 32.3% – followed by the Isuzu D-Max with 309.747 sales (-1.8%), the GMC Sierra with 293.064 (+3.8%), the Toyota Tacoma with 272.720 units (+1%), the Chevrolet Colorado with 148.847 (-12.4%) and in 10th place the Toyota Tundra with 122.672 (-6.7%).

The global leader within the Pick-up segment is Ford with 1.35 million units sold in the 2018 (+0.8%), ahead of the Toyota with 998.120 (+10.3%) and Chevrolet with 899.809 (-0.5%).

Global Pick-up sales by Manufacturer

Ford Group is the global leader in the Pick-up’s segment with 1.35 million sales in 2018 (+0.8%), ahead of General Motors with 1.24 million (-1.9%) and the fast-growing Toyota Group 1.04 million (+9.9%).

In fourth place F.C.A. with 796.174 units sold (+3.5%), followed by Renault Nissan Alliance 531.840 (+7.6%) and Isuzu Motors gaining volume – up 15.3% – with 335.674.

The best-selling model ranking was lead again by the Ford F-Series, which hit the milestone of 1 million sales in the 2017 and has now improved with global sales at 1.08 units (+0.5%). US and Canada represent 98% of total sales.

In second place the archrival, the Chevrolet Silverado, losing 1.4% and very far from the leadership with 651.131 sales.

In third place the Ram Pick up  with 623.444 (+3.6%).

In fourth place the king of the desert, the Toyota Hilux, with 548.313 sales (+8.8%). Differently from the previous three models, the Hilux sales are distributed over 140 different markets, dominating entire areas in Africa, South America and Middle East.

In fifth place the Isuzu D-Max with 301.629 (+15.9%) followed by the GMC Sierra, with 274.198 sales (-4.8%), the Toyota Tacoma with 270.276 (+23.7%), the Ford Ranger with 267.153 units (+1.9%), the Chevrolet Colorado with 169.220 (+16.1%) and in 10th place the Toyota Tundra with 131.760 (+3.6%).

World Best Selling Pick Up 2017 ranking in the 2017 led by a record Ford F-Series, first time over the 1 million units. Globally pick up sales excited the 6 million units, first time ever, representing 48% of LCVs segment. USA, China and Canada are the biggest markets.

Global Sales

The “Pick-up” segment is considered within the light commercial vehicles, while for its nature is a quite versatile device and in several regions, from America to South Asia, it is used with to transport people and tools, not for working. However, it is classified within LCVs representing 48.2% of this market, with 2017 sales at a record 6.1 million, up 3.9%

The top three markets for this segment are USA (with 46.3% of global sales), China ( with 8.0%) and Canada (with 7.1%).

Best Selling Models

The best-selling model ranking was lead again by the Ford F-Series, which hit the milestone of 1 million sales in a calendar year, fourth vehicle in the history and highest level ever for a pick up or commercial vehicle. Total sales have been 1.076.000 (+8.7%).

In second place the Chevrolet Silverado with 661.000 units, (+3.6%), the record level for this model.

In third place the Ram Pick up  with 601.000 sales (+3.9%), at record as well.

In fourth place the king of the desert and best-selling vehicles in several African and Middle East countries and in the ASEAN region, the Toyota Hilux, with 508.000 sales (-5.3%) followed by the GMC Sierra with 288.000 units (+1.8%) and the Isuzu D-Max with 262.000 (-13.5%).

In seventh place the Ford Ranger, with 259.000 sales (+7.8%) ahead of the Toyota Tacoma with 219.000 (+2.8%), the Chevrolet Colorado with 145.000 (+9.5%) and in 10th place the Toyota Tundra with 127.000 (-0.6%).

World Best Selling Pick Up ranking in the 2016 dominated by the Ford F-Series, at new record very close to 1 million sales. Toyota Hilux out of the podium penalized by MENA and Africa.

Following a positive growing period between 2010 and 2015 when the glibal pick ups sales grew from from 4.1 million to 5.7 million, in the 2016 sales had been penalized by recession in Africa, Middle East and Asean, ending the year with 5.742.000 sales, up a mere 0.1% from the previous year.

The best-selling model ranking was lead again by the Ford F-Series, which scored the best sales performance in the 41 years since its first arrival in the market, ending the year a breath down of the 1 million milestone, with 990.000 sales (+7.2%) and 17.2% of share on segment.

The second was again the Chevrolet Silverado with 640.000 units, down 4.6%, losing in the top 3 markets, US, Canada and Mexico. Third was the Ram Pick up, with 578.000 sales (+6.3%),

The king of the desert and best selling vehicles in several African countries, the Toyota Hilux, ranked in fourth with 524.000 sales (-9.%), fast growing in China, Tunisia, New Zealand, but losing heavy in Saudi Arabia and in the rest of Middle East.

In fifth place the Isuzu D-Max with 296.000 (+7.0%) followed by the GMC Sierra with 283.000 units (-2.2%) and the Toyota Tacoma with 213.000 (+6.7%).

In eight place the Ford Ranger, with 207.000 sales (+11.1%) ahead of the Chevrolet Colorado with 134.000 (+24.9%) and in 10th place the Toyota Tundra with 128.000 (-2.2%).
