Considering cumulative sales from 2023 up to October, the Toyota Camry is the best selling mid-size car, reporting 520,443 sales (-6.4%), followed by the Tesla Model Y, which sold 415,950 units (-8.3%).
The BYD Qin PLUS rises 3 spots into 3rd with 355,017 sales (+36.7%), in front of the Honda Accord which sold 333,471 units (+0.4%).
The Nissan Sylphy falls 2 spots into 5th with 293,481 sales (-25.7%) followed by the Volkswagen Lavida -down 1 spot- with 278,139 new registrations (-6.8%). Next the BMW 3 Series -down 1 spot- reporting 259,825 units sold (+0.5%).
The Mercedes C Class grows 1 spot into 8th with 257,784 sales (+10.8%) ahead of the Volkswagen Passat with 237,675 units sold (+1.6%).
Closing the leader board we have the Audi A4 with 192,337 sales (+8.7%).

In third place ranks the Nissan Sylphy with 448,982 sales (-11.0%), in front of the Honda Accord which sold 400,626 units (-8.4%).
The Volkswagen Lavida moves into 5th with 361,774 sales (-8.1%) followed by the BYD Qin PLUS -up 10 spots- with 308,368 new registrations (+81.6%). Next the BMW 3 Series -down 2 spots- reporting 303,314 units sold (-23.8%).
In eight place ranks the Volkswagen Passat -down 1 spot- with 288,686 sales (+6.5%) ahead of the Mercedes C Class with 283,578 units sold (+9.5%).
Closing the leader board for the second year in a row we have the Audi A4 with 214,553 sales (-3.0%).

World Best Selling Mid Size Cars 2017 fell down 4.7% at 9.8 million units. On top of the list the archrival Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, both just renovated with the launch of the new generation. China counts 41% of global sales for this segment.
In the 2017, the “Mid Size Cars” segment, accounted 9.8 million vehicles sold, down 4.7% from the previous year. The top three markets for this segment are China, USA and Canada.
In the 2017, the Toyota Camry sales have been 644.000, down 2.2%. Produced since the 1982, when it was a compact size car, the Camry was just renovated at the eight generation. It was launched in Japan on 10 July 2017, in Australia on 21 November 2017 and it will also be launched in Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries by the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018. North American production started in June 2017, and sales began in late July 2017.
In second place the Honda Accord, up 1 spot, with 531.000 sales (-2.4%). Produced since 1976, the Accord is available in the sedan (top seller in US), hatch and wagon styles and the last generation, the 10th, just started, with production began on September 18, 2017, and sales began in October.
In third place the Volkswagen Lavida, a vehicle on produced and sold just in China, sold in 517.000 units (-5.7%).
Behind, the Mercedes C Class with 488.000 units (+2.7%), the Volkswagen Passat, actually fourth with 453.000 sales (-13.3%) followed by the Skoda Octavia with 423.000 (-6.1%) and the Buick Excelle with 421.000 units.
In eight place the Nissan Sylphy with 412.000 sales (+9.5%) ahead of the BMW 3 Series with 385.000 (-1.5%). and in 10th place the Chevrolet Malibu with 360.000 (-3.2%)

Latvia’s economy bounced back in the final quarter of 2016 after plummeting to a multi-year low in the previous quarter due in large part to EU funding delays. However, over 2016 as a whole growth has disappointed, with the slow absorption of EU funds buffeting the economy of one of the largest net beneficiaries of the EU budget. FocusEconomics analysts surveyed this month expect GDP to increase 2.8% in 2017.
Meantime, the automotive market in 2016 recorded a strong increase in double digit, posting the best performance since 2010. Pushed up by the robust performance in the first half of the year, the total vehicles sold had been 18.729, improving 16.2%.
According to data released by the Auto Asociacjia, the Association of Car Manufacturers in Latvia, in December the vehicles passengers had been 1.399, up 11.7%.

Volkswagen confirmed the leadership with 2.576 units (+0.2%) ahead of Toyota and Nissan respectively up 9.0% and 0.7% at 2.004 and 1.505. The best performers of the year were Jaguar and Bentley, surging 185.7% and 112.5%, while among the sharpest increases were recorded by Opel, Mazda, Peugeot, Kia and Ford.
Alfa Romeo and Suzuki posted the worst performances, losing 51.7% and 36.7%, followed by BMW, Fiat and Land Rover.
The Nissan Qashqai was the best selling model with 773 sales (-10.7%) ahead of the Skoda Octavia with 587 (+33.7%) and the Skoda Yeti with 575 (+19.5).

World Best Selling Mid Size Cars 2016 ranking with three new models in the top 10. However the leadership of the Toyota Camry is still solid, after 10 years of power.
It is defined a mid-size car in the North American/Australian standard an automobile with a size equal to or greater than that of a compact. In Europe mid-sizer are referred to as D-segment or large family cars. Vehicles have a length between the 4.4 and 4.6 meters and include all bodies such as sedan, hatch, coupe, MPV and SUV. In our ranking we do not include SUVs and MPVs reported in the dedicated ranking.
Thanks to the powerful F2M mobility database expanded, day after day, collecting sales of over 2.400 different models in all countries in the World, we can provide any kind of segmentation including this one. During the 2016 the mid-size segment increased 0.7% at global level with preliminary global volumes reported at 10.7 million units.
Despite the leader is still there after over 10 years of leadership, the top of the segment is almost dynamic with three new entrance within the top 10.
Despite losing volume and having reduced the gap over the followers, the leader is yet the Toyota Camry with 659.000 units (-11.7%) while the Honda Accord advanced in second place with 550.000 sales (+0.7%) gaining one spot as done by the third, the Volkswagen Lavida with 546.000 units (+15.6%), both challenging the leader.
In fourth place, down 2 spots, the Volkswagen Passat with 526.000 units (-9.2%) followed by the Hyundai Sonata with 382.000 sales (-15.0%), the Nissan Sylphy with 375.000 sales (+8.9%), the Buick Excelle Gt up 5 spots with 373.000 (+28.6%) and the Chevrolet Malibu with 364.000 (+15.8%).
In ninth place the Mercedes C Class with 359.000 units (-4.8%) followed by the Nissan Altima with 334.000 (-8.1%) and in 11th place the Volkswagen Santana with 309.000 (+12.1%).

World Best Selling Mid Size Cars 2015 ranking was dominated by the Toyota Camry, leader for the 13th year in a series. Behind the Volkswagen Passat and Lavida while the new Mercedes C Class stands as fastest star.
Introducing this new exclusive ranking, we wish to specify the contents of this segment inside the car passenger’s market.
It is defined “A mid-size car (occasionally referred to as an intermediate) is the North American/Australian standard for an automobile with a size equal to or greater than that of a compact. In Europe mid-sized are referred to as D-segment or large family cars.”
In the table below we report the ranking of the World best-selling mid-size cars in the entire 2015. The segment represented 10.24 million vehicles, the 11.4% of total global light vehicles market. In the 2015 improved only 0.6% (while full market was up 2.5%).
The best-selling model in the segment was the Toyota Camry with 749.554 sales, down 2.3% from last year. The model is the 6th best-selling cars – all segments – in the World.
Thank to the 2015 leadership, the Toyota Camry has been the best-selling car in the segment for 13 straight years and the last generation launched as Model Year 2015, when Toyota stripped it down to its chassis and rebuilt it from the ground up, is raising the bar yet again in the ultra-competitive mid-size sedan segment.
The second model was the Volkswagen Passat with 575.402 units, fully benefit from the last generation launch (October 2014) growing 5.4% expanding the gap over the third, the Volkswagen Lavida, one of the best-selling vehicles in China, registered with 472.841 units (-2.9%).
Fourth was the Hyundai Sonata with 449.544 sales (+2.8%) ahead of the fast growing Mercedes C Class, up 5 spots with 371.785 units (+22.3%).
The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class heralds a new chapter in the Mercedes-Benz success story and sets new standards in the premium mid‑range class. Thanks to an intelligent lightweight design concept boasting weight savings of up to 100 kilograms, excellent aerodynamics and new, economical engines, the C-Class establishes new benchmarks in its class.
In sixth place the Nissan Altima with 363.693 sales (-1.6%) followed by the Nissan Sylphy with 345.616 (+105%), the Ford Fusion with 332.646 (-4.0%), the BMW Series 3 with 332.550 (-10.0%) and in 10th place the Chevrolet Malibu with 314.763 (-11.9%).
