World Cars Brand Ranking in 2019 with Toyota and Volkswagen on top of the list and Ford, still in the podium despite at the lowest market share in the last 30 years. Behind, Honda has grown fast, hitting a new record sales with share at 5.5%, just 0.1 points far from Ford. Mercedes & BMW among the few brands in positive track.

Tracking the ranking of top-selling car brands in the World since the 2010, we have always seen the same leader: Toyota. Indeed the Japanese benefit from the strategy to have concentrated in a single brand the most powerful line-up in the World and while other manufacturers have assembled different brands aiming to cover more customer segments, Toyota have just a little diversification in the one-brand strategy, with Lexus in the luxury segment and Daihatsu in the small, low-cost vehicles.

The level of Toyota brand sales grew up in these years while the market share was almost stable between a minimum of 9.2% (in 2016 and 2017) and a maximum of 10.2% (in 2012). In 2019, while the global market has declined, Toyota went back at 10.2%, the second best ever share.

In second place Volkswagen was stable as well with a last ten years market share between the 7.3% (in 2010 and 2016) and 8.0% (in 2012 and 2013). In the 2019 ended at 7.6%, while losing volume.

While in one of the worst time of a glorious history, Ford kept the third place. The brand has clearly struggled with 2018 market share at a minimum of 6.0% having lost 1.1 points in the last three years. In 2019 it ended at a new minimum of 5.6%, while the fourth, Honda, is reducing the gap, with 5.5%.
