The Best Selling Car up to October 2023 is the Maruti Swift, rises into 1st position with 176,315 sales (+18.2%), followed by the Maruti WagonR with 176,156 new registrations (-8.5%) and the Maruti Baleno at 170,359 sales (+15.3%) .

The Maruti Vitara rises 4 spots into 4th securing 153,534 sales (+42.1%), in front of the Tata Nexon with 140,112 (-0.2%) and the Hyundai Creta with 136,254 registrations (+16.1%).

The Maruti Dzire ranks in 7th with 127,545 sales (-4.4%) in front of the Tata Punch with 12,012 sales (+13.8%).

In ninth place  ranks the Maruti Alto with 116,596 sales (-15.7%), followed by the Maruti Eeco, closing the top 10 with 115,750 units sold (+7.9%).

Denmark Best-selling cars ranking up to August 2023 sees the Tesla Model Y as new segment leader with the best performance in the Top 10 (+796.3%), followed by the Peugeot 208 (+43.0%).

The Danish passenger car’s market is characterized by small and compact vehicles, unlike the rest of the Scandinavian countries that are dominated by larger and more expensive models. This is due to the peculiarity of local taxation.

Looking at the Top 50 rankings, the best seller up to August 2023 in Denmark is the Tesla Model Y -up 21 spots- with 10,254 sales (+796.3%), followed by the Peugeot 208  with 4,039 new registrations (+43.0%) and the Ford Kuga in 3rd with 2,958 sales (+31.0%).

In 4th ranks the Tesla Model 3 – up 69 spots- with 2,282 new sales (+408.2%), in front of the Citroen C3 with 1,899 units sold (-29.5%), the Cupra Formentor -up 23 spots- at 1,844 (+89.1%), the Volkswagen T-Roc with 1,778 sales (-13.3%) and the Toyota Yaris -down 3 spots- with 1,749 new registrations (-10.5%).

The Hyundai i10 ranks in 9th with 1,739 units sold (+6.8%) and the Skoda Enyaq -up 1 spot- closes the Top 10 with 1,725 new registrations (+10.6%).

Looking at the Top 50 rankings, the best seller of 2022 in Denmark is the Peugeot 208, up 3 spots with 3,920 sales (-4.1%), followed closely by previous year’s leader the Ford Kuga at 3,762 registrations (-36.1%) and the Citroen C3 -down 1 spot- in 3rd with 3,108 sales (-40.5%).

In 4th ranks the Toyota Aygo X, for the first time in the top 10 with 3,091 cumulative sales. This brand new model is by far the best performer in the rankings.

5th place is taken by the Toyota Yaris at 2,794 sales (-34.4%), in front of the Volkswagen T-Roc at 2,760 (+14.9%), the Hyundai i10 with 2,504 sales (-23.6%) and the Mercedes C Class with 2,460 sales (-0.1%).

The Skoda Enyaq jumps 63 spots into 9th with 2,432 units sold (+157.6%) and the Kia Cee’d closes the Top 10 with 2,323 new registrations in 2022 (-25.7%).

The Indian Market in 2022 has performed exceptionally, scoring a new all-time high.

The main protagonists of this escalade are within a group of vehicles reported in the present post, representing the top 50 models sold in the country.

Maruti Wagon R maintains 1st position with 217,317 sales in the year (+18.2%), followed by the Maruti Baleno with 185,665 sales (+7.8%) overtaking the Maruti Swift at 176,424 sales (+0.8%) .

The Tata Nexon Jumps 6 spots into 4th securing 168,278 sales (+55.0%), in front of the Maruti Alto with 162,548 (-2.2%) and the Maruti Dzire with 159,919 registrations (+37.6%).

The Hyundai Creta -down 2 spots- ranks in 7th with 140,895 sales (+12.3%) in front of the Maruti Ertiga with 133,814 sales (+17.0%).

In ninth place  the Maruti Vitara with 130,814 (+12.2%) followed by the Tata Punch entering the Top 10 for the first time with 119,309 sales (+475.5%).

Other remarkable performance within the Top 50 are those of Mahindra Bolero (+44.1%), Maruti Celerio (+121.4%) and that of the new Mahindra XUV 700.

Reading the ranking in 2021, the data confirms this peculiarity as the best seller is the Ford Kuga, up 2 spots from the previous year with 5,890 units (3.2% share). The second-best, the Citroen C3 reported a 2.8% market share with 5,226 units sold.

In third place we have the  Toyota Yaris, which registered 4,262 units sold, reaching 2.3% market share.

In fourth place there is the previous leader, the Peugeot 208, which reported 4,088 units sold (2.2% share), followed by the Toyota Aygo with 3,542 units (1.9% share), the BMW 3 Series -up 9 spots- with 3,481 units (1.9% share), and the Opel Corsa with 3,292 units sold (1.8% share).

In eight place, the Hyundai i10 -up 12 spots- with 3,277 units (1.8% share) followed by the Peugeot 3008 -up 23 spots- with 3,172 units (1.7% share) and the Kia Cee’d -up 14 spots- with 3,126 units (1.7% share).

In 2021, the Maruti Wagon R becomes the new leader after overtaking the Maruti Swift, which fell in 2nd position. Indeed, the Wagon R is first this year with 183,851  sales and holds 6% market share, ahead of the Maruti Swift with 175,052 sales and 5.7% share.

The third position is taken by the Maruti Baleno with 172,237 sales (5.6% share), followed by the Maruti Alto -dropping 2 spots-, which sold 166,233 units (5.4% share), and by the Hyundai Creta -up 2 spots- with 125,437 sales (4.1% share).

The Maruti Dzire ended up in 6th place with 116,222 units sold (3.8% share). The Maruti Vitara reached 7th place with sales at 115,962 (3.8% share), followed by the Hyundai EECO -down 2 spots- with 114,524 sales (3.7% share). 

In ninth place, we find the Maruti Ertiga -up 3 spots- with 114,408 sales (3.7% share), ahead of the Tata Nexon –up 8 spots- selling 108,577 units YTD (3.5% share).

In third place, the Ford Kuga registers an impressive performance and reaches 2.6% share with 5.134 units sold.

In fourth place the former leader, the Nissan Qashqai, reports 4.802 units sold (2.5% share), followed by the Toyota Aygo -up 4 spots- with 4.608 units (2.4% share), the Toyota Yaris -down 1 spot- with 4.487 units (2.3% share), and the Teska Model 3, up 22 spots with 4.279 units sold (2.2% share).

In eight place, the Citroen C1 -up 2 spots- with 3.919 units (2% share) followed by the Renault Clio -down 3 spots- with 3.879 units (2% share) and the Volkswagen Golf -down 3 spots- with 3.654 units (1.9% share).

In 2020, the Maruti Swift becomes the new leader after overtaking the Maruti Alto, which slipped into 2nd position. Indeed, the Swift is first this year with 160.765 (-16.2%) sales and holds 6.3% market share, ahead of the Maruti Alto with 154.076 (-26%) and 6% share.

The third position is taken by the Maruti Baleno with 153.986 sales (-16.2%), followed by the Maruti Wagon R, which sold 148.298 units (-4.9%) so far, and by the Maruti Dzire -down three spots- with 124.969 sales (-37.2%).

The Maruti EECO ended up in 6th place -up 2 spots- with 99.480 units sold (-12.8%). The Hyundai Creta ended up in seventh place -up 3 spots- with sales at 96.989 (-2.8%), followed closely by the Kia Seltos  -up 14 spots this year- with 96.932 (+112.6%). 

In ninth place, we find the Hyundai Grand i10 with 91.930 (-10.5%), ahead of the Maruti Vitara selling 83.666 (-34.2%).

Denmark Best Selling Cars ranking has now been updated with Full-year figures of 2019. Due to the high taxation system, the toughest in Europe, the ranking reports among top seller only small or compact models. The best-seller still was the Nissan Qashqai, despite the SUV lost terrain while the Citroen C3 has grown fast, ending not far from the top.

Reading the 2019 sales ranking, data can just confirm this peculiarity and the best seller is the Nissan Qashqai, up 1 spot from the previous year.

However, Qashqai volumes declined 5.4% from the correspondent period of 2018 and the gap over the followers was narrow. Indeed, the second best, the Citroen C3 was not far, gaining 3 positions and ending the year at 3.1%.

In third place, the Peugeot 208 – the 2018 leader – registering a sharp drop (-22.1%) and losing 1 point of share from the previous year.

In fourth place, the Volkswagen Polo with 2.7% of market share, followed by the Toyota Yaris with 2.3%, the Renault Clio with 2.1% and the Volkswagen Golf with 2.1%.

In eight place, the Skoda Octavia with 2% of share – up 3 spots – followed by the Toyota Aygo and the Citroen C1, ending respectively at 1.9% and 1.8%.

India best selling cars ranking in 2019 was led by the Maruti Alto, back on top after having lost the leadership in the previous year. In second place the 2018 leader, the Dzire, which fell sharply down losing 1 point of market share. Behind other three Maruti models, while the Hyundai i20 was the first non-Maruti in the ranking.

Following the lost of the leadership, first time in this decade, happened in the 2018, The Maruti Alto in 2019 was back on top of the list, despite performing the second lowest share of market in this decade with 6.9%, from a record of 9.9% hit both in 2013 and 2014. The model is losing terrain, year after year, due to the several new models launched in the market.

The last year leader was back in second. It was the Maruti Dzire performing with 6.6% of share, down 1.0 points from the previous year. It was followed by other three Maruti models: the Swift with 6.4%, the Baleno with 6.1% and the Wagon R with 5.2%.

The best model which is not owned by the Indian manufacturer was the Hyundai i20, which gained one position, holding 4.1% of share.
